Accommodation

Our home for 2 nights will be Llangattock Mountain Lodge set high in the stunning Brecon Beacons, in a very remote location (although don't worry - it has Wifi!)

Inside there is under floor heating throughout, a large kitchen diner with exposed stonework and original beams and a relaxing lounge.

Bedrooms are all ensuite and each sleeps either 4 or 6 in very comfy bunks! We are limiting this break to just 20 guests to ensure no overcrowding. Groups of friends can request their own room, please let us know when booking. There are additional toilets throughout the property and a wheelchair accessible bedroom for 2 downstairs with a bathroom next door.

Ghosts of The Skirrid Inn

The Skirrid Inn is first mentioned in records from 1110, around the time of the Norman Conquest and so not only is it the oldest pub in Wales but with over 900 years of brutal suffering, witchcraft and punishment under it's belt, it's no surprise that it's also considered the most haunted!

The building has played host to Kings and leaders and the last Welsh Prince of Wales, Owain Glyndŵr is said to have rallied his supporters here before setting off on his revolt against the English.  It is said that many wounded soldiers would have returned here to the Skirrid to die following raids on nearby English settlements. The sound of marching soldiers is frequently heard here...an echoe of the past?

The infamous and evil hanging Judge Jefferies is said to have sat in court here for many years handing out fatal punishments to over 190 people during the 17th century. Worse still, the hangings were actually carried out on the premises with one of the oak beams at the top of the staircase still showing the marks from the hangman noose. A noose still hangs here to this day as a chilling reminder of the many souls taken before their natural time.

Judge Jefferies is said to still roam his old courtroom upstairs and his presence has been felt by those who are brave enough to spend time in there.

Bedroom 3 is another of the pubs most active rooms where apparently an 18th century maid named Fanny Price died aged 35 of Tuberculosis.

Having featured on many paranormal TV shows including 'Most Haunted' and 'Help! My House is Haunted' there are believed to be at least 5 very strong spirits at The Skirrid Inn, will they make themselves known to us?

Ghosts of

Llancaiach Fawr Manor

Dating from 1530, Llancaiach Fawr Manor has gained a reputation as one of the top 10 most haunted buildings in the UK with reports of strange goings-on in every room of the house.

In 2003 TV's Most Haunted visited (series 2, ep 8)  and investigated it's many manifestations!

This is one building which truly seems to have most of it's previous occupants still in residence, passing in and out of rooms as they always did in life.

Colonel Edward Pritchard was Master of the Manor during the English Civil War and he is often seen around the house, and felt as a icy presencePrichard supported the Royalists until 1645 when he switched allegiance to the Parliamentarians. He held Cardiff Castle against the 1646 siege, and fought at the 1648 Battle of St. Fagans.

Another regular ghost you may spot in the manor is Mattie, a 19th century housemaid who, it is rumoured, was killed in the house. Her petticoats had been heard rustling in the room where she is  believed to have died. There is also the ghost of the little boy who fell to his death from one of the rooms on the upper floors. He makes his presence known to visitors and employees by tugging at their sleeves or hair. He will also sometimes slip his hand into the hand of someone in the room, seeking the affection any child would.

Disembodied footsteps, ghostly children playing, poltergeist activity and reports from each and every room more makes Llancaiach Fawr Manor potentially one of the most haunted buildings we've ever investigated.

our Eerie Escapes are limited to 20 guests to ensure no overcrowding and the best possible experience for all!
