Understanding psychic intuition
Extra sensory perception is a key element in understanding the paranormal world, however it can often be confusing to understand the different abilities people can have and the ways in which these are demonstrated.
Here we try to distinguish and explain these, however it is not always possible to define such abilities as they be very personal to each individual.
This therefore is a very general guide
The "Clair' senses
This collective phrase includes any or all types of psychic sensitivity corresponding to the senses: seeing, hearing, feeling, smelling, tasting, touching.
Clairvoyant (clear vision) -- To reach into another vibrational frequency and visually perceive "within the mind's eye" something existing in that realm. A clairvoyant is one who receives extrasensory impressions, and symbols in the form of "inner sight" or mental images which are perceived without the aid of the physical eyes and beyond the limitations of ordinary time and space. This is the ability to see images, places, people and events that have passed.
Clairaudience (clear audio /hearing) -- To perceive sounds or words and extrasensory noise, from sources broadcast from spiritual or ethereal realm, in the form of "inner ear" or mental tone which are perceived without the aid of the physical ear and beyond the limitations of ordinary time and space.
Clairsentience (clear sensation or feeling) - To perceive information by a "feeling" within the whole body, without any outer stimuli related to the feeling or information. (Also see clairempathy)
Clairscent (clear smelling) – To smell a fragrance/odor of substance or food which is not in one's surroundings. For example, if an intuitive person makes a connect with a spirit, and suddenly smells cigarette smoke without any possibly 'natural' cause, there is a likelihood that it is in connection with that person and a sign of their presence.
Claircognizance is having intrinsic knowledge about the past, present, or future that is not the result of logic deduction or reasoning, and this knowledge also does not originate from observation using the normal senses. The ability to finish other people’s sentences can be perceived as a form of this 'knowing' sense.
Clairtangency (clear touching) -- More commonly known as Psychometry. To handle an object or touch an area and perceive through the palms of one's hands information about the article or its owner or history that was not previously known.
Clairgustance (clear tasting) -- To taste a substance without putting anything in one's mouth. It is claimed that those who possess this ability are able to perceive the essence of a substance from the spiritual or ethereal realms through taste. This can include tasting foods or drinks for example.
Clairempathy (clear emotion) – An Empath is a person who can psychically tune in to the emotional experience of a person, place or animal. Clairempathy is a type of telepathy to sense or feel within one's self, the attitude, emotion or ailment of another person or entity. Empaths tune into the vibrations and "feel" the tones of the aura.
Generally speaking, mediumship involves the "medium" being used as an instrument through which the spirit world can communicate with the living (or the physical world). A psychic medium acts as a bridge between the worlds. For those in spirit, this can be for the purposes of:
Presenting information, verifiable or otherwise.
Causing paranormal activities to occur.
Channeling forth certain types of energies.
Manifesting themselves for objective examination and/or identification.
